The short version
The text you paste, clean or copy is processed entirely inside your browser. It is never sent to, stored on or logged by any server operated by us or by anyone else. The website records anonymous usage statistics; the browser extension records nothing at all.

All cleaning runs as client-side JavaScript. No text, HTML or clipboard content is transmitted. The site loads Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager to measure anonymous usage: page views and tool events such as "text pasted", "text cleaned" and "text copied". Event payloads contain counts and character lengths only, never the text itself. Google Analytics may set cookies and process your IP address according to Google's privacy policy; IP anonymization is enabled. We do not run advertising, we do not sell or share data, and we have no user accounts.
Browser extension (GPT Cleanup — AI Text Cleaner)
The extension does not collect, transmit or store any user data. It makes no network requests and contains no analytics. It requests these permissions only to do its single job — cleaning text you choose:
- contextMenus — adds the "Clean selected text with GPT Cleanup" item to the right-click menu.
- activeTab — lets the extension read the text you selected, only on the tab where you clicked the menu item and only after that click.
- scripting — shows a short confirmation message on the page and, in text fields, replaces your selection with the cleaned text.
- clipboardWrite — copies the cleaned text to your clipboard.
- storage — remembers one preference on your device: whether Markdown symbols are removed.
The extension has no host permissions, does not read pages you have not explicitly selected text on, and does not load remote code.
Data retention and your rights
Because no text is collected, there is nothing to retain, export or delete on our side. Analytics data is held by Google under its standard retention settings (14 months) and is aggregated. You can block analytics with any content blocker or by disabling JavaScript for the analytics domains; the tools keep working.
